Today we joined the San Francisco morning rush hour as we left at 7am heading to Pismo beach. The sun rise was a welcomed thing.
Oh boy we are on another 6 lane highway heading south east.
Following google maps again we made it to Santa Cruz. Wow what a great place, the beach was really wide and there were Boardwalk all the away long. The amusement park was closed for the season and undergoing renovations. We ordered coffees and muffins and sat by the beach overlooking the Peir. We could hear and see the Seals being fed down by the Peir,
Heading along the coastline on the CA-1 admiring the spectacular view.
The highway soon lead us to this:
The low lying clouds gave an eerie feeling. The clouds may have been mixed with smoke from the local fires that were still burning in Big Sur.
After travelling more than the Google maps suggested time of 6 hrs we arrived at Pismo beach at 3pm.
The Pismo beach coastline. So far I think this is the best place we have been. We were glad to get out and walk after being in the car for so long.
Feeling a little thirsty we bought a few drinks to have on the balcony and were very surprised to find Bundaberg drinks in the fridge in America.
Back at the Sandcastle Inn enjoying a drink we spotted some Whales in the distance. There was quite a few passing.
For Dinner we just had to do what the Americans call BBQing, we headed to Mo's BBQ. Ordering only one meal and a few sides. We got a full rack of ribs, coleslaw, garlic fries and garden salad and sharing it between us. It would have to have been one of the best and cheapest meals we have had our whole trip, it was good. Love the table number.
With our belly full we waited for the sun to go down.
On returning to our hotel we had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful American couple walking their dog called Milly. They asked us if we would take their photo with the sunset.
