We started the month with a special night at Girl Guides where Hayley was a helper and Emma's friend Chantelle was receiving an award. I managed to read 3 books, enjoyed a movie with Jaki and my husband. We took the caravan away for the weekend. Hayley completed the first stage of her University study and Emma handed in her first Home Ec sewing assignment. We finished off the month with the end of year Christmas celebration at Girl Guides.

Books
While I do like reading its not always at the top of my list of things to do. So I have set myself a goal of reading a book a month. Family Baggage was the book I choose this month. The end of the month came quickly and I wasn't finished but a weekend of hubby being away, one daughter at a friends house and the other child at Girl Guides there was no better opportunity to finish it.
Harriet Turner knows all about journeys. After all, she’s arranged hundreds of them for the travel agency her family runs in the Australian coastal town of Merryn Bay. But when her work colleague and foster sister Lara disappears on the eve of a big overseas trip, Harriet finds herself in uncharted territory.
Left alone in England with a coachload of eccentric tourists on a themed tour of locations from the Willoughby TV detective series, Harriet has her hands full. But as the bus trundles through the picturesque Cornwall countryside, the tour becomes another kind of journey for her. She finds herself facing big questions about her family and her childhood; about her feelings for the guest of honour on the tour, star of Willoughby, Patrick Shawcross – and the biggest puzzle of all: what has happened to Lara?
I enjoyed the book, a little slow at the beginning and then wrapped up quickly. It wasn't my favourite Monica McInerney book, but good none the less.

A Day Out:)
Today we took advantage of the great weather and headed out to the great outdoors.
We had an early start at 7am and made our way to Bli Bli to meet David's family at Muller Park on the Maroochydore River. Grandad had the boat in and had already set the crab pots.
Both of the girls went out with David for a spot of fishing.
I was happy to sit on bank until they returned in time for some lunch.
Three generations of fishermen with lines in their hands!
As the tide rolled out so did we. No fish were caught but it was a great day was had by all.

August 2014
This month we spent quite a lot of time in the garden. We planted a passionfruit vine, a lemon, mandarin, orange and lime tree. I made good progress on my latest crochet project. Our chickens began to lay and the kids really got into looking after them which was great. Hayley & Emma enjoyed time at the Ekka. The end of the month saw us start to enjoy the warmer weather. I also made time to smell the flowers of course.

Meet the Girls
About 5 weeks ago we added 4 chickens to our list of pets. We made a few additions to the coupe so that we could lock them up at night and let them out when it suits us in the morning. We are hoping to keep the noise down by doing this, what this space to see if it works!
It has taken us a while to name our girls, but here they are:-
Emma's - Nimrod
David's - Chicken Dinner.
We were very excited last week when we got our first egg on Friday.

May 2014 Scrap Retreat
This weekend I made my second annual trip to Minden Scrap Retreat with my crafty friends. Friday I was all packed and ready yo go by 4pm.
On Saturday we woke to fog but that wasn't to last long.
The theme for fancy dress this retreat was "Once Upon A Time". We went as the Queen of Hearts and her card soldiers (not quite sure how I ended up being the queen, but anyway).

Bella Mare
This week David and I were treated to a week away. David's parents very kindly offered to have the girls for a week. We spent 5 nights at the Bella Mare in Coolangatta.
We went on a walk or 2 and really enjoyed the view.
Some wonderful sunsets.
Some time in the very warm spa.
On the last day David treated me to Prawns and Westcoast by the Tweed River.
We also had some "Opera on the Beach". During the week they were preparing for the weekend. On Friday night we were able to get a sneak peak of the show.
We had a great week and really enjoyed ourselves.

April 2014
This month Hayley ran in the cross country and I was very happy with her effort. End of term reports arrived home with a great results for both girls. The school holidays saw some fun catching waves at the beach, a trip to Digi skate and a play date to the Wetlands with some good friends. Hayley and Dad went to see the Leggo movie, and I took Emma to see Divergent which we both enjoyed. I also celebrated my 40th with a trip to the movies and received a great present on the day from my family. I also took to time out to read and just smell the flowers.
