After a fairly smooth departure from the ship we jumped into a cab and headed to Hertz Long Beach. We picked up our car, which was a mini van, and were pleasantly surprised to find a GPS in the car. The GPS made the trip to San Deigo so much easier.
As we headed down the highway we weren't sure if this was smoke from a fire and very a little worried. We soon realised the it was fog rolling in from the ocean and thought it quite strange but fascinating.
After negotiating the traffic we soon arrived at our hotel in San Deigo. We were a little early for check in but were able to check our bags and head out to do some exploring.
When we arrived at our next attraction we thought it a good idea to take a photo of the cars rego so we would be able to find it again.
We were looking forward to seeing the USS Midway Museum, which is an aircraft carrier that is docked permanently in the San Deigo Harbour.
It was massive and you wonder how it can float being so big.
The carrier now houses 29 retired aircraft on its flight deck. There was one from Top Gun which was filmed in San Deigo.
Emma really wanted to go on the plane simulator and so how talked Hayley into going on it with her. Not sure how this went down but I waited for her to chicken out, but she didn't.
There is a wonderful little video of the girls screaming it I will have to load later. After spending about 3 hours on the Midway we headed back to the car, which we actually had no trouble finding. The sun was setting as we headed back to the hotel to check in and call it a day.
